Maks aka Deacon and his new mommy Ainsley July 2010. Here is an update on Deacon, (who actually is now called Maks.) He's doing wonderful! I adopted him almost a month ago, and is very well adjusted. He loves people and other animals, and going for runs. He is quick, but mighty clumsy. He's one year old now, is very gentle, and nothing but a pleasure.

2010 - Simba is absolutely amazing. He brings a smile to my face every time I look at him. He is learning very quickly, although some days it seems like he has forgotten everything he knows. We go for walks at least once a day but more often twice a day. We go to the dog park usually once a week. He loves being off leash in the woods and is getting pretty good at the recall. He has become a very loyal and caring companion and gets lots of love.

Brea & Marty. Brea on the left (harrier mix), rescued from the Humane Society, summer of 2010, and Marty (lab and fox hound) rescued from the SPCA in Gatineau in Fall of 2007. These guys were meant for each other as you can see, like 2 peas in a pod. Now should I get a third? Am thinking of it. I see about 4 on this site I am interested in.

Cane and his new best friend - April 2011 - Where do I begin...from the moment Cane stepped foot in our house, he was home. It was like he knew us forever. I never felt so much love and joy from an animal in my life. We had been looking for the perfect dog for a few months prior to finding Cane, but evey minute was worth the wait. Everything we were looking for in a dog Cane matched and them some. He was so meant to be in our family. He makes the morning brighter and welcoming with his big morning kiss, the days so eventful with his playful tactics and the evenings so cuddly and warm as he snuggles up beside you. I can pesonally say something was missing in my life and Cane has filled that void. I can't thank FDGR enough for bringing Cane into our family! Renee

Baron (formerly known as Zeke) is HAPPY, HEALTHY and very HANDSOME!!! He has grown a lot and is now a large lovable puppy (about 6 months). He is learning his manners, growing into his ears and paws and being loved and loved by the kids (and adults). He especially loves his long walks, belly rubs and sunbaths on his new dog bed. Here are some pics of Baron enjoying some of his favorite things on our property... expecially his green bouncy ball which he even talks too! Cheers, Tara, Rich and family P.S. My son still calls him Zeke as a nickname!!!

My Positive Adoption Experience My name is Kady. I really wanted to have a dog but Justin and I worked days. I came upon the Friendly Giants Dog Rescue and printed off some information to bring home to Justin. We decided to try it. We brought Nala (Georgia) home for a few weeks to see how she was. She was perfect! It was the best thing we’ve ever done. Nala is a wonderful aspect to our family. We feel very good about adopting her. We are defininetly considering adopting again in the near future. This website is great! They give you time to decide if the dog is the right dog for you, as well as answer any questions you have with a quick email or phone call. The website gives you really good information about the dogs, like whether they are house trained, good with kids, and much more. They were right about Nala. She is a very good dog. Why get a puppy when there are so many loving animals that don’t have homes and defininetly deserve a second chance? Apr/2011

We have renamed Emily to Princess. She is part of the family. She sleeps with our daughter and when she's away she sleeps with us. We have to spell walk and outside and I think she even understands that. We also have adopted a kitten that some idiot threw out of a truck window. Princess's maternal instincts took over and she protects the kitten.. We named the kitten Lucky. Barry & Ruth - April/2011

My name is Lacy, do you remember me? I'm a brindle English Mastiff that was rescued by Friendly Giants Dog Rescue last summer. I was adopted by a wonderful family last August, and now live a great life in Corunna, ON. I need your help. My aunt and uncle, who live in Calgary, are the "Blue Team" on My RONA Home, a televised competition to win their dream home. They're working very hard. They're great people and I love them very much. Can you please help by taking a minute to vote? You can watch episodes of the show and vote here; http://www.citytv.com/calgary/show/micro/116763 And you can "like" their Facebook Page here; http://www.facebook.com/voteblue?sk=wall and learn all about them. Thank you kindly, Sincerely, Lacy

Buddy (alias Bailey) is doing very well. Our grandnephews were here from Toronto last weekend and took lots of pictures so will send them to you as soon as we receive them. He is quite a nut as he buries all his toys and any chewy treats in the backyard and he takes that job quite seriously. He has made friends with the little Buddy down the street but is not equally friendly with all small dogs. With the larger dogs in the park, he is quite submissive and lies down when he sees them. However if any owner is petting him and their dog comes near, that's the time he does a grrrrr. I run with him almost every day as he has boundless energy. Thanks Wendy-Anne

This is my Ben! He is the sweetest. He might be able to rest his head on our counters but his favourite friend in the whole world is a roll-y poll-y Puggle. He doesn't even growl or move when she licks cookie crumbs off his face! (Dog cookies of course.. :)

Just wanted to update you on Max and how his summer is going. He, like a true lab, is loving the water . At my parents cottage he swims and swims and just loves it. Like a border collie, we taught him how to jump up on the hay bales and he loves getting up there and looking around. He is a 100% darling and we just love him. Thanks again Saxon

Aug/11 - Just giving you an update on Gabriel. He is doing wonderful. He is coming out of his shell but still cautious at times. He has many friends that he plays with every morning in the field. He loves running through the tall grass and hiding. He gets the younger dogs to chase him. It is so fun to watch him. He is so wet because of the dew in the early morning he just loves being wet. On that note, in the afternoons we go into the woods down the street from where I live and he is on the hunt for the smallest animal he can chase. (Chipmunks or squirrels). His agility amazes me. Can he jump! We are in our 6th week of dog obedience classes. He is so smart and is making me look like a great owner/teacher. The first few weeks he was so timid he wouldn’t do anything in front of the class but after class he would perform for the instructor and I just perfectly. He now participates in class and is much more comfortable. Everything takes time with Gabriel – and I have the time and the patience. He loves my two cats. The younger one (I have included a picture) his name is Cyrus and he just loves to tease Gabriel. They chase one another around the house and sleep together. Gabriel doesn’t mind sharing his bed with him. The older cat insists on grooming Gabriel. Lots of cleaning of his ears and nose. Gabriel enjoys the attention. I will send you another picture when we graduate from obedience class – a big moment for both of us. He has come such a long way. One of the pictures is my daughter and her boyfriend who Gabriel loves to play with

Hello! My name is Mr. Chance Wilson and I am living large with my family! I was 6 months when I first came home and 45 pounds, and am now 11 months and 90 pounds! I love to play and have fun with my family. My family decided on day two that I was trustworthy enough to leave out of the crate while they were gone to work during the day. I have parties while they are gone that make me tired, so I mostly sleep on the couch. I have strong jaws, so I always find new chew toys on my bed, like antlers and cooked beef femurs. I have passed my first obedience class and will be attending more; my mom is crazy about education! I love all people and all kids. My mom works with children that have Special Needs, I am so good with them she wants me to be a therapy dog when I am older. I learn very quickly and am able to understand what my family tells me, I can be stubborn though so they always have to follow through with what they ask me to do. My Grandparents are awesome and bake me my own cookies to eat. Salmon! Peanut butter! Delicious! My Grandpa gave me my own toy shelf near the floor that I use to get balls, tug toys, bones and all kinds of other goodies. My Dad plays with me the best, and I get very excited when he comes home. I am loved and appreciated as a big part of the family, and my Grandparents even gave me presents under the tree at Christmas! Thank you Friendly Giants Dog Rescue!
